We welcome actors of all races, genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds to audition.   Also seeking Stage Manager and Technical Director.

LIZ:  Female at least mid 30's plus
DOG:  Female at least mid 30's plus
NELL:  Female older than Liz
RUBEN (DOG):  Male close in age to Liz
SWING:  Male 40's-50's, plays Shelter Worker, Lady Jogger, Male Passerby, Jamie, Dog Park Goer, Man, Alley Cat, Vet

Synopsis:

Liz is a tough-as-nails New Yorker with a life falling apart faster than her morning bagel. When a scruffy stray dog shows up on her stoop, Liz —⁠ the least dog person on the planet —⁠ reluctantly agrees to foster it. This temporary inconvenience quickly turns into a heartwarming and hilarious journey of self-discovery. Who says you can’t teach an old dog (or a stubborn New Yorker) new tricks? In the city that never sleeps, it sometimes takes an unexpected friend to wake up what truly matters and that the most loyal friends find each other when they need it most.

 Eight months ago, this play was produced at the B Theater in Sacramento, CA and has had  five productions in Oregon, Florida, and Virginia since, all to rave reviews. 

Please note that the production of The Fantasticks at The Open Eye Theater has been postponed until the spring of 2027.  Dog Mom replaces it for this 2026 season.
